Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose is open and peppery, with aromas of green pepper, animal notes of fur, and a hint of black fruit au gratin.

On the palate, the attack is frank, revealing a well-balanced wine with finesse.

The wine has good persistence and a spicy character.

The finish is clean and coated.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU CHEVROL BEL AIR

Château Chevrol Bel Air, located in Néac, spans a 30-hectare terroir across three appellations: Lalande de Pomerol, Montagne Saint-Émilion, and Bordeaux Supérieur.

The 20-hectare vineyard in Lalande de Pomerol is situated on silty-clay soils with a subsoil of cinder and gravel. The main grape varieties are Cabernet Franc and Merlot, with 10% of Cabernet Sauvignon.

In terms of viticulture, the vines are on average 40 years old. Harvesting is done when the grapes are extremely ripe, with a selective sorting in the vineyard.

Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel or cement tanks for three weeks.

The wines are then aged in stainless steel tanks combined with oak barrels to preserve the fruit aromas, provide a subtle oak character, and allow for a controlled oxygenation of the wine.
