Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark garnet colour with deep red highlights. The nose is open and full-bodied, with notes of red berries, menthol and cigar. Supple, full-bodied attack, satiny tannins, tension, fullness, good balance. Fleshy, powerful, full-bodied finish, with notes of spices and wild blackberries, a hint of sapid bitterness and dark chocolate. A lovely wine!

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

2020, a vintage put to the test. - A particularly mild winter, leading to very early budburst. - A rainy spring with very high disease pressure, including mildew, which was all the more difficult during this period of confinement. - A scorching summer with no rain until mid-August. May and June were 2 dry and hot months, allowing flowering and veraison to begin in good conditions. July and August were marked by strong heat peaks and life-saving thunderstorms. - The warm days and cool nights of September enabled the grapes to reach good levels of ripeness. The harvest came early (around ten days ahead of the rest of the vineyard) and was carried out under unprecedented sanitary conditions.
