Fruity and well-rounded

Garnet colour with ruby highlights. Spicy, typical nose of black pepper and cumin, jammy notes of black fruit, hint of woody roasting. Supple attack, full-bodied, well-balanced, supple, greedy character with black fruit gratin, long, full finish.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

This estate was created in 1960 in the commune of Ceyras. In 2010, Jean Claude Mas acquired the château's 27 hectares, which he extended to 42 ha in 2013. He is particularly fascinated by the fantastic terroir of the Terrasses du Larzac, capable of producing velvety wines with intense aromas. At the foot of Mont Baudile, this vineyard offers a unique geography, with its red earth, schist and rounded pebbles. Yields are low and grapes are carefully selected to produce generous wines. In 2012, Jean-Claude Mas bought the surrounding vineyards, bringing the total number of hectares of Crès Ricards to 42.
