Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Deep garnet colour with some brick tints. Lovely open nose with a bouquet of candied fruit, cocoa, leather and hints of sweet spices. Well-balanced, frank with finesse, well-structured, nice character whose bouquet extends that of the nose. Notes of old leather, cumin, coriander. The finish has fairly dense and melted tannins, with a good length.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

A symbol of the human adventure of Saint Mont, the black beret has been worn with pride by our winemakers for generations, in the vineyards and elsewhere in the world. The Béret Noir is harvested by hand in the traditional way.

Domain and appellation

The winegrowers of the Plaisance, Aignan and Saint-Mont vineyards brought together their know-how, heritage, terroirs and initials to form PLAIMONT in 1979. The BERET NOIR cuvée symbolises the tradition, history and future of Saint-Mont.
