Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and crisp

The nose is open, frank and typical, offering notes of exotic fruit, flint and granite, with a fine minerality, frank and airy.

The attack is acidic and crisp, marked by notes of exotic fruit and citrus fruit, typical and straightforward.

The finish is fairly fleshy, with a sapid bitterness, freshness and hints of juniper berries and quinine. Good persistence.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • Maison KUEHN

KUEHN was founded in the 17th century (in 1675). At the end of the 18th century, Baron Jean-Jacques de SCHIELE (1758-1826) had the deepest cellars in the entire region dug into the rock, where he vinified and aged the noblest Ammerschwihr wines in oak tuns. In the purest respect for tradition. The estate then became the property of a very old and noble family of Ammerschwihr winegrowers, the Kuehn family. René Kuehn (1910-1995), who owned the estate, was the village's deputy mayor and a lawyer.
