Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The estate has obtained the High Environmental Value (HVE) level 3 agricultural certification.

Domain and appellation

  • CHATEAU LEOGNAN (Pessac)

The current vineyard, replanted in 1989, is composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. The omnipresent hand of man attests to the constant attention given to the double Guyot pruning. In respect of the environment, the analysis of the treatments is triggered by the knowledge of the terroir and the experience of the winemaker according to the climatology. The harvest, which is entirely manual, begins in October according to the ripeness of the grapes in each plot. The "cutters" place the bunches in crates so as not to crush the berries and preserve them from oxidation until they reach the cellar.
