Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark garnet colour with brick tints. Small nose to open, with a bouquet, then on notes of red fruit gratin, cocoa, and laurel. Velvety, fleshy attack, with mature tannins. Beautiful envelope, character on roasted red fruits, milk chocolate and sweet spices, full-bodied. Velvety, powerful, full-bodied finish, with good length on spices and red fruit gratin.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Château Montlabert

2019, a beautiful vintage full of contrasts! A very dry and mild winter, which led to an early budding of the vines. A gloomy April marked by an episode of frost from 12 to 13 April which affected the Bordeaux vineyards in a heterogeneous way. May and June were rainy, without compromising the flowering. July was exceptionally hot, followed by a sunny month with a few rainy periods. September was warm and sunny, perfect weather to compensate for the slow veraison and to harvest the grapes at perfect maturity.
