Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

This malt, beautifully balanced, offers rich fruit notes, spices and honey.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

A native of Spain, the Solera system is a method of assembly and aging developed for over 500 years. The barrels are stacked on several levels, depending on their age and profile (older rums at the bottom and younger above) enabling "continuous connection" in order to fill the part in the barrels.

Domain and appellation

  • Glenfiddich

William Grant created his first whiskies for christmas 1887 after saving money for over 20 years to buy two second-hand alambics as well as a land ideally located near by a water spring in the Deer Valley, “Glen Fiddich” in gaelic.

    • Distillery: Glenfiddich distillery is located in the area of Speyside, Scotland.

    • Elaboration: Project XX is the first single malt designed by 20 whiskey experts. Glenfiddich went to pick up 20 brand ambassadors; The Cellar Master Brian Kinsman invited them to the distillery to exchange and imagine a new Single Malt. This is how Project XX was born. Each expert was able to choose his liquid from the incredible reserve of drums from the distillery. The result, a collection as varied as unexpected, that the Master of Chai Brian Kinsman knew to marry with harmony.
