Powerful bouquet

Some bright green highlights, powerful and open nose of stewed fruit, pears in syrup, hints of blond caramel, iodised sea spray, then peaty. Beautiful balance, powerful, full-bodied but melted, roundness, the character although very marked does not attack, finesse for an Islay, fullness, beautiful long and tense, typical and frank length.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The green glass bottle is a nod to the design of peated whiskies produced by other "Islay" distilleries. Unlike so many others, this single malt is conceived, distilled, aged and bottled on Islay.

Domain and appellation


    Port Charlotte 10 Year Old is a Single Malt distilled, aged and bottled on Islay. This 10 year old single malt is peated at 40ppm and made from 100% Scottish barley from the County of Inverness and Islay spring water. The spirit is distilled by the dropper to allow for a long, slow distillation, which allows for optimum contact with the copper and, as a result, a more refined spirit with an elegantly peated smoke. Each Port Charlotte 10 recipe is made from a combination of 65% 1st fill American whiskey casks, 10% 2nd fill American whiskey casks and 25% 2nd fill French wine casks
