Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and well-rounded
Its bright coral color offres a fresh nose of pomegranate and lychee. On the palate, this wine is balanced, honest and full with character and a nervous finish on a mineral touch.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
Marsannay is the only appellation in Burgundy to produce rosé wines.
Domain and appellation
Château de Marsannay
Located in the Côte de Nuits not far from Dijon and at the gateway to the Route des Grands Crus, the Château de Marsannay extends over 34 hectares, of which 26 hectares are in the Marsannay appellation and 8 hectares are on other appellations of the Côte de Nuits.
- Terroir: This cuvee is a blend of seven plots covering a total area of 2.6 hectares. The soil is composed of gravel from erosion and deep marls.
- Viticulture: Maintenance of the soil is important with a partial grass cover and ploughed soil. Buds are removed to preserve the ceps by aerating them. Harvests are done manually and are thoroughly table-sorted.
- Vinification: Produced exclusively from the pinot noir, Marsannay rosé is prepared by direct pressing and maceration. The grapes are stored in tanks for 1 to 3 days before being pressed. The wine is then matured for 6 months in vats.
