Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Fairly deep lemon-yellow colour, regular, fairly fine bubbles. Open and vinous nose of yellow fruits, candied fruits, fresh notes of candied ginger. Good balance, vinous and quite full-bodied, bubbles that melt together, nice character on stewed fruit, fresh spices, more complex buttered and vanilla notes. Beautiful frank, straightforward and taut length with mineral and creamy notes.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

It was in 1816 that Madame Clicquot invented la table de remuage, which clarified the wine. The process is then adapted by the other champagne houses

Domain and appellation

  • VEUVE CLICQUOT PONSARDIN

Founded in 1772, the Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin house belongs to the LVMH group. It has plots in 12 of the 17 Grands Crus and 20 of the 44 Premier Crus that Champagne has.

    • Terroir: The estate covers more than 390 hectares.

    • Viticulture: Aware of the exceptional quality of its vineyards, the house of Veuve Clicquot pursues an eco-responsible viticultural policy which aims to preserve and promote its prestigious terroirs. The grapes come from 50 to 60 different vintages.

    • Vinification: The Réserve Cuvée is made up of a majority of Pinot Noir (50-55%), an emblematic grape variety from the Maison Veuve Clicquot, which brings power and structure, while Chardonnay (28-33%) adds elegance, freshness and finesse. The Pinot Meunier (15-20%) gives roundness and fruitiness to the wine. This magnificent cuvée is made up of 30 to 45% reserve wines.
