Our oenologists' opinion
Discover a new and exciting tasting experience with this Cristal champagne. Explore its fragrances recalling white fruits, candied lemons and fresh almonds. Full-bodied, it will offer you thin and enjoyable bubbles. The perfect alliance between the taste of candied yellow fruits and the flavor of the elderberry tree brings elegance and finesse to this champagne full of freshness. Cristal can age and be kept. It can be retained more than 20 years without losing its temper and its freshness.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Do you know ?
The jewel of the Louis Roederer Cristal cuvée was created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II. The Maison used a Flemish master glassmaker to make a bespoke bottle for the Tsar, in order to overcome any attack against himself. Thus the famous crystal bottle, transparent and flat-bottomed, was born.
Domain and appellation
Founded in 1776, the house was entrusted to Louis Roederer in 1833 to expand and establish itself as one of the finest terroirs of Champagne. While other maisons bought their crops from wine growers, the Roederer house embarked on a policy of acquiring the most prestigious vintages. Roederer Cristal is THE prestige cuvée of the house and certainly one of the most famous in the world.
- Terroir: The house has three vineyards in the most important wine regions of Champagne: the Vallée de la Marne, the Montagne de Reims and the Côtes des Blancs.
- Viticulture: Spread over 240 hectares, the vineyards are divided into 410 plots. Like the ending of Bourgogne, the vines are pampered and worked piecemeal to respect the diversity of terroirs.
- Vinification: Developed only during the "great years", Cristal Roederer is made of 100% crus. Aged in a cellar on the lees for 6 years, it benefits from additional 8 months after disgorgement.
