Fruity and well-rounded

A garnet-red colour with purple highlights. Straightforward nose of candied black fruit and spices, opening up to notes of liquorice and blackcurrant coulis. Full-bodied attack, full-bodied, well-balanced. Frank, greedy length.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

    The soil is composed of Villafranchian terraces (rolled pebbles). The plots are located in the Gard region, at the crossroads between the Popes' Palace in Avignon and the famous Roman aqueduct "Le Pont du Gard". The grapes are picked when fully ripe, destemmed and vatted in concrete vats. Gentle pumping over is carried out daily to extract the aromas, colouring matter and tannins. Post-fermentation maceration lasts around 3 weeks. Decanting is decided on the basis of tasting.
