Powerful bouquet

Dark garnet-red colour with brick highlights. The nose is open and frank, with notes of black cherry jam, dark chocolate and mocha, and a hint of incense. Fleshy, well-balanced attack, with notes of leather, caramel, blackberry coulis and sweet spices, satiny tannins. Powerful finish, with a fair amount of alcohol, followed by notes of fresh prunes and ginger.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

    For this exceptional new cuvée, MAISON CASTEL drew its inspiration from the southern Rhône Valley, from the special soil of the Gigondas appellation, which gives the wine an unusual freshness. A terroir steeped in singularity, where finesse has even tamed the mountains that encircle the village. Like the fine, precise work of a lace-maker, the "Dentelles de Montmirail", finely chiselled by erosion, are transformed into veritable sculptures that reshape the horizon. As much a land of culture as of wine, many craftsmen, musicians, painters, sculptors and writers have succumbed to its charms and come here to find inspiration. Like its inspired compatriots, past and present, MAISON CASTEL wanted to express its special nature.
