Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

A garnet-red colour with a brick sheen. Straightforward nose of blackcurrant coulis, fresh spices and herbs. Opens with notes of cocoa and cinnamon. Supple attack with roundness and balance. Frankly greedy length, frank and typical character. Good persistence. Gourmet finish.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

The name "Château du Bois de la Garde" refers to the most experienced soldiers of Napoleon's Imperial Guard, the Grognards. Returning from war to civilian life, they set to work in the vineyards, laying the foundations for this prestigious estate.

Domain and appellation

  • CHATEAU DU BOIS DE LA GARDE

Located between Avignon and Orange, Château du Bois de la Garde is owned by Vignobles Mousset-Barrot. Specialising in Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf du Pape, the estate produces only AOC, vins de pays and appellations Villages. - Terroir: The Provençal country house reigns over a continuous 60-hectare estate. The south-west-facing vineyards are planted on pebble soil, which stores heat during the day and releases it at night. - Viticulture: The estate likes to explain in detail the care given to the vines throughout the year. The viticultural work is precise and carried out in relation to the mistral wind. Most of the grapes are harvested by hand. The vines are gobelet pruned. - Vinification: In the winery, the wine ferments and macerates for 15 days in temperature-controlled vats before maturing in concrete vats.
