Fruity and well-rounded

Crimson colour. A straightforward, greedy nose of red fruit coulis and herbs. Opens with aromas of cocoa and blackcurrant. Supple attack with roundness and balance. Frankly greedy length, frank and typical character. Good persistence. Round, silky tannins. Red fruit coulis finish.

Features

Abruzzo is Italy's thirteenth largest region. It is made up of two-thirds mountains and one-third hills, providing extremely favourable natural conditions for vineyards.

Domain and appellation

  • Cantina Tollo

    Cantina Tollo is an agricultural cooperative founded in 1960, which currently has 840 members and 3,100 hectares under cultivation. Terroir: The production areas are spread across the municipalities of Tollo, Ortona, Canosa Sannita and Orsogna (Chieti). The soils are chalky and clayey, situated at an altitude of 130 metres and facing south-east. Viticulture: The vines are planted on Abruzzo pergolas at a density of 1,600 vines/ha. This wine is made from organically grown grapes. Vinification: The grapes are harvested in mid-October, followed by maceration of the skins at a controlled temperature of 25°C. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is matured in vitrified cement vats.
