Do you know ?
In 1263, King Alexander III of Scotland was saved from certain death in the attack of a deer, by Colin Fitzgerald, first ancestor of the clan of Mackenzies. In gratitude, he received a castle and nobility, represented by a royal deer. This is in reference to the family and the bravery of this illustrious ancestor that the bottles are now adorned with a royal stag's head of representation.
Domain and appellation
The Dalmore Distillery is based in Alness in the Highlands, place of origin of the native clan Mackenzies, founding family of the distillery in 1839.
- Manufacturing: The aging takes place in bourbon casks (50%) and Oloroso sherry casks (50%) for a period of 12 years. Once the whiskey is matured, different types of barrels are assembled and it rests for a further period of four months to allow the harmony of flavours.
