Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Fruity and sweet are the two words that describe the tasting of the gold wine. Greedy fragrances of yellow fruits, yellow peaches and apricot are getting out of this bottle. In mouth, it is well-balanced and enveloping. The length is characterized by its fruity and sweet taste. It is freshened up by a mineral touch.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

The Grand Cru Kaefferkopf has an ancient reputation. It has been subjected to a judicial protection in 1932 before the emergence of the concept of Designated Origin Controlled (AOP, Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée).

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine Kuehn

The vineyard of the Maison Kuehn is located in Ammerschwihr in the Alsace region. It is composed of a patchwork of soils and subsoils, bringing originality and wealth to the wines. Vines comes out on the best hills of Ammerschwihr on a predominantly clay-limestone soil.

    • Terroir: Kaefferkopf owes its reputation to the geological nature of its soil, associating granite to the most elevated parts made of limestone. Below, the soil is made of sandstone. Vines are located on hills with a full East exposure. The hills peak until 350 meters.
    • Wine-making: Kaefferkopf has a particularity that other vintages don’t have: Thanks to its precedence, it is one of the rare Grands Crus from Alsace that can claim the assembly of several grape varieties: The Gewurztraminer, the Riesling and the Pinot Gris.
