Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and light

Its garnet color offers a nose of cherry jam, blueberries and smoky notes. On the palate, this wine presents a good balance, vinous, with a character on candied fruits, licorice.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

Australia began to produce wine around 1830 in the Hunter Valley, then in 1838 in the Barossa Valley in Southern Australia. Since, the vineyard extends essentially on coasts, taking advantage of a warm and maritime climate.

Domain and appellation

  • Idyll Wine

Idyll Wine is located in the picturesque valley of Moorabool, 1h30 away from the south-west of Melbourne, in Victoria. Idyll Wine has been founded in 1966 by Daryl and Nini Sefton. It was one of the first vineyards to be replanted following the damages the phylloxera made on the vine at the end of the 19th century.

    • Terroir: The landscape around the vineyard is composed of basalt alluvial, above a limestone territory, perfect for grape culture.
    • Wine-making: The wine-making is made entirely inside stainless steel tanks. It is followed by a malolactic fermentation. Then the wine ages in French and American oak barrels during six months.
