Fruity and well-rounded

With its black color, this wine offers a nose of spices, black fruits. On the palate, it presents a fleshy attack, with still young raw tannins, on notes of black and peppery fruit.



Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Delicate and delicious, this wine was already sold in the sixteenth century. He was appreciated at the table of the kings of France. In the 17th century, the Jesuits of Tournon gave it its current name. Between 1956 and 1969, all the vineyards of this part of the Côtes du Rhône were grouped and consecrated under the name Saint-Joseph.

Domain and appellation

  • Maison Delas

    Founded in 1835, Delas was bought in 1977 by Deutz Champagnes. Today it belongs to Deutz and the Louis Roederer group. The Delas house operates an area of 30 hectares including 10 hectares of vineyards situated on the Hermitage appellation, 2 hectares of AOC St. Joseph and 18 hectares on A.O.C. Crozes-Hermitage.
    • Terroir: The plots are located on the terrace of Chassis and evolve on a granite floor.


    • Viticulture: Harvesting is done by hand at optimum ripeness.


    • Vinification: The wine is traditionally performed with a live pre-fermentation cold maceration in open concrete tanks Finally, part of the wine is aged in vats and another in Burgundy barrels for a period of 14 months.
