Fruity and well-rounded

With its purple color, this wine offers an open nose on black fruits and spices. On the palate, it has a fleshy attack, balance on cocoa notes and mocha. The tannins are ripe. Finale on black fruits.



Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

It is between 1956 and 1969 that all the vineyards of this part of the Côtes du Rhône were regrouped and consecrated under the name Saint-Joseph.

Domain and appellation

  • Saint Desirat

    The cellar of Saint Desirat is located on the terraces which border the right bank of the Rhone, in AOC Saint Joseph.


    • Terroir: The Saint Joseph is a vintage of Côtes du Rhône Septentrionales located north of the Department of Ardèche, on the hills right bank of the Rhone. Light soils are composed of shale and gneiss on a granitic base.

    • Viticulture: The vineyard is located on the former "historic" terroir of the vine on granite terraces exposed South, South-East.

    • Vinification: A follow-up of the maturity of the grapes in the vines and a rigorous selection of the harvest are made. Saint Joseph red wine is vinified in a traditional way with a maceration of 15 to 18 days in vat.
