Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

With its garnet color, this wine offers a nice open and vinous nose of black fruit and floral lilac. On the palate, this wine presents a beautiful balance, vinous, ample, with tight and sweet tannins. Long and typical finish. Very nice wine to discover or rediscover!

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine des Billards

At the 18th century, the family Charlet was owner and wine trader at Saint-Amour and Juliénas, at the border of Bourgogne and Beaujolais regions.

    • Terroir: Thanks to a diversity of soils and exposures, each plot has a unique temper. The best wines are selected. The wine-growers are concerned about keeping their personality.
    • Viticulture: Gather the grape at its optimum maturity is the golden rule of the domain. This philosophy has been inspired by two principles: the quality of the harvest and the respect of the original characteristics of the terroirs.
    • Wine-making: In function of the domains and the vintages, the domain opts for a fermentation in tanks or in oak barrels. Wines are in cellar where they rest, they soften and age the necessary time before the delicate bottling.
