Domain and appellation

  • Château Durfort-Vivens

    The Château Durfort-Vivens owes its name to the Durfort de Duras, powerful family from the south-west that moved to Margaux in the 14th century. In 1824, the viscount of Vivens added its name to the one of Durfort. The reputation of the domain is at its peak. In 1961, Lucien Lurton, impassionate and defender of wine-making terroirs purchased and restored the vineyard. Its son Gonzague inherit of the property in 1992. He modernizes the exploitation to enhance the quality of this one of a kind terroir.

    • Terroir: Located in the towns of Margaux, Cantenac and Soussans, the vineyard of 55 hectares is based on knolls made of deep and poor gravels.
    • Viticulture: Harvests are manuals.
    • Wine-making: This step is done using concrete and wooded tanks. The wine ages for 18 months in oak barrels coming from the center of France.
