Well-rounded

Its ruby color offers a slightly toasted and smoky nose, followed by licorice. On the palate, this wine has a good balance, full-bodied with a nice character on stewed fruit. Final frank and quite heady.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The name of Château Mont-Redon comes from the Latin "Montem Retundum" which means "Mont Rond", referring to a small round hill in the locality. 

Domain and appellation

  • Chateau Mont-Redon

    Located on the highest terrace of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, between Orange and Avignon, Château Mont-Redon was bought in 1923 by Henri Plantin. This huge area consists of 3 vineyards: 100 hectares of vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 32 in Lirac and 22 in Côtes du Rhône.
     
    • Terroir: The 32 hectares of vineyards dedicated to the production of Lirac are located on a plateau covered with pebbles. The vines are based on clay and limestone soils.

     

    • Viticulture: Harvesting is done manually.

     

    • Vinification: The wine is made by punching down with maceration for 15 days. Once the malolactic fermentation carried out, 1/3 of the assembly is made with Bourgogne parts for 228 litres and 2/3 in vats.
