Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Ruby colour with purple highlights. Frank nose of kirsch and morello cherries. Peppery notes. Supple attack with roundness and balance. Frank length on morello cherries and kirsch. Good persistence on candied red fruit and spices.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • FAMILLE MURÉ

The Muré family has been growing vines in Westhalten since 1650. It is now represented by the 11th and 12th generations. In 1935, Alfred Muré, René's grandfather, bought the Clos St Landelin, a 12-hectare vineyard that made the reputation of the estate and remained the family monopoly. The estate's other vines are located in the neighbouring terroirs of Vorbourg, Zinnkoepflé and Côte de Rouffach.
