Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Its white gold color offers a rather open and expressive nose, on aerial notes of cut grass,  rosehips and honeysuckle. On the palate, this wine presents an acidulous and greedy attack, on notes of exotic fruits (pineapple) and lime. Greedy final.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • Nederburg

In 1791, on a discovery trip, Philippus WOLVAART bought the farm located between the rivers Berg and Palmiet. With his wife, they fed the land and built the solid foundations on which the success of Nederburg was to flourish. Nowadays, Nederburg is one of the most rewarded of South Africa. Grapes come from vineyards of the Darling, Paarl and Philadelphia regions. Vines, planted between 1696 and 1998, are cultivated on the soils of Clovelly, Hutton, Tukulu and Oakleaf, peaking at 120 meters above the sea level.

    • Viticulture: Manual harvests are done in February when temperatures reach 21/22°C.

    • Wine-making: The fruit has been smoothly pressed to extract an excellent quality juice. After clarification, the juice ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 15°C during 3 weeks. The wine-making processes are strictly controlled to preserve the characteristic fruity aroma.
