Our oenologists' opinion
This limpid and shiny garnet-colored wine has spiced and peppered fragrances. They mix with notes recalling garrigue. The attack is supple and plump. In mouth, black fruits aromas ally with a sweet spices flavor. The finish, all about finesse, is characterized by a taste of liquorice.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Domain and appellation
Domaine du Silène
Founded in 1995, the Silène domain is located along the Joncastre stream in the town of Saint-Pons-de-Mauchiens. It overlooks the departmental park of Bessilles and has an unquestionable potential. It adjoins the vineyard of the Paul Mas castle, the Valmagne abbey and the Peyre Rose.
- Terroir: The domain stretches on 57 hectares. Vines grow on 26 of them. On two other hectares are planted truffle oaks. An olive grove is also planted on two other hectares. The rest of the domain is composed of rested fields and pine wood. In
