Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Its brick color offers a nose typical of peppers notes with a touch of cocoa and spices. On the palate, this wine presents a good balance, frank, fairly full-bodied on tannins that melt.

Brick Red

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

After a struggle of several years to recognize the specificities of the appellation of Pessac-Léognan, André Lurton, then President of the Syndicat Viticole des Graves du Nord, was allowed to create it in 1987.

Domain and appellation

  • Château Haut-Nouchet

Located near Martillac in Gironde, in the heart of the young Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Haut Nouchet was bought in 2008 by the Briest family.

    • Terroir: This area of 27 hectares is based on soils of günziennes gravel with a clay and limestone ground.

    • Viticulture: The harvest is manual with sorting in the vineyard.

    • Vinification: There is an alcoholic fermentation at 28/30 ° C in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks before malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged on lees for 12 months in oak barrels (1/3 new).
