Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Intense garnet color, purple reflections, dark, opaque and brilliant. Open nose with notes of raspberries, wild strawberries and vanilla, greedy, hint of blackcurrant coulis. On the palate, supple and satiny attack, nice character on fresh forest fruits, sapid, ample, silky and fatty tannins. Spicy and fruity finish, nice note of candied pepper and raspberry, nice length, nice tension, good balance!

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine de la Perruche

Domaine de la Perruche is located in the town of Monstoreau, in the heart of the Saumur Champigny appellation. Our Estate is divided into two islets of plots. One is located on a plateau overlooking the Loire. The altitude works in our favor, protecting us from spring frosts and promoting exposure to the summer sun. The other part is located on a slightly different plateau in terms of soil, more stony and exposure.
Below the vineyard, on the banks of the Loire, our cellar allows the vinification of the Domaine's grapes. A wine cellar faces it, offering a notable troglodyte heritage on the hillside.
