Fruity and crisp

Get ready to be astounded by this wine that handles ingeniously the floral touch of the lilac and the wisteria, the fruity side of the black fruits and the spiced side of pepper. You will find all of these aromas before the tasting as their fragrances are released by this ruby-colored wine. In mouth, it is well-balanced and has temper with a touch of fresh spices and pepper.

The vines at the origin of the Valençay Rouge "La Pierre à Fusil" are planted on clay-siliceous soils that undulate around Valençay. Flint, in abundance, gave place formerly to a flourishing industry of gun-stone.

    Prolonging the "Coteaux du Cher", the discrete vineyard of Valençay of 133 hectares is confined on the left bank of the river, at the junction of Touraine, Sologne and Berrichon country.

     
     

    • Terroir: The vines are planted mainly on clay-siliceous soils. There are also clay-limestone soils.


     

    • Vinification: The grape variety is multiple. The Reds predominate widely and consist of Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Côt and Pineau Noir. A few Rosés top up with the same grape varieties. For the whites, the Sauvignon, possibly escorted by Chardonnay and Pineau de Loire.
