Fruity and well-rounded

Garnet colour with a purple sheen. Strawberry and redcurrant notes on the nose. Opens on raspberry. Purple hint. Supple attack of balance. Straightforward and fruity on the palate. Full-bodied, character on stewed red fruit, hints of fresh pepper. Tight tannins are melting rapidly. Fruity finish.



Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The "Wolf in the Sheepfold" is a creation of Orliac children who wanted to have fun and renew the genre "entry". This wine comes from a long succession of laughter, impatience and pursuit of pleasure.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine de l'Hortus

    Located in Valfaunès in the Hortus and Pic Saint Louis massifs’ foothills, the Orliac family eponymous vineyards spread across 60 hectares in the heart of the Languedoc garrigue. The Orliac family understood early on the region’s potential in the elaboration of high-end wines.


    • Terroir: The vineyards lay on alluvials terraces.


    • Viticulture: Environmental friendly viticultural practices aim at preserving the terroir. The vines are pruned through the gobelet and double Cordon de Royat training systems.


    • Wine-making: Short, the maceration lasts for 4 to 5 days. The 2 to 3 weeks fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks.
