Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine de L'Hortus

Located in Valfaunès at the foot of the Hortus and Pic Saint Louis massifs, the Orliac family vineyards extend over 60 hectares in the heart of the Languedoc garrigue. The Orliac family very quickly saw the potential of the Languedoc Rousillon vines in making great wines.

Terroir: The vineyards are based on alluvial terraces.

Viticulture: Viticultural practices respectful of the environment aim to preserve the terroir. The vines are pruned in goblet or double Cordon de Royat.

Vinification: Short, maceration lasts between 4 and 5 days. The 2 to 3 week fermentation takes place in vats.
