Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The expressive nose of this purple-colored wine exhales fragrances of blackcurrant jelly spiced by a scent of black pepper. Its spiced attack features greediness and unveils a taste of black fruits and a unique temper. The tasting is ending a long and persistent finish.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

Everyone contributes to the Domaines Jean-Luc Colombo. Especially Fitou, Corton and Syrah, the dogs and cats of the domain that help by chasing rabbits from the vineyards.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaines Jean-Luc Colombo

Located at Cornas between cherry and fig trees, the area Jean-Luc Colombo extends from Côtes du Rhône to the Mediterranean. Born in Marseille in a restaurateur family, Jean Luc pursued oenology studies with the ambition to create wines of a nostalgic feeling with the cuisine of his childhood.

    • Terroir: The vineyard is located on a clay and rocky soil.
    • Wine-making: After the harvest, the grapes are destemmed and worked at a controlled temperature. Then, the wine ages for 12 months, partly in oak barrels whose 15% are new. The rest of the barrels have already been used for the wine-making of one to four wines.
