Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and well-rounded
Its golden robe offers an open nose, on notes of acacia honey, eucalyptus, and fresh quince. On the palate this wine has a gourmand attack and strained with finesse. Final on candied yellow fruits and spice.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Style ? Dry wines are acidic, lively and fresh while sweet wines are soft and feel round in the mouth.
Do you know ?
As mentioned by its name, late harvests, “vendanges tardives,” in french are wines that are made of grapes that are perfectly ripe and harvested several weeks after the traditional harvests. Those wines carry a natural acidity and freshness.
Domain and appellation
Established in 1810 by Nicolas Schlumberger, the Domaines Schlumberger stand out with the implementation of environmental-friendly practices. The vines are worked using the principles of organic viticulture since 2000 and were recently introduced to biodynamic methods.
- Terroir: Spread across 140 hectares, the vines are located at 250/390 meters above the ground.
- Viticulture: Located on steep slopes, the soils are worked thanks to the help of 4 horses. The harvests are handpicked.
- Vinification: Once they have reached perfect maturity, the grapes are harvested and thoroughly pressed. The fermentation in thermo-regulated foudre lasts from 1 to 3 months.
- Gewurztraminer : 100%
