Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine Gérard Bertrand

Well-known in the whole world, the domain Gérard Bertrand contributes to the prestige of the vineyard of South of France, the biggest one in the world. Surrounding the most beautiful terroir of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, the Gerard Bertrand wines are perfectly mixing tradition and innovation.

    • Terroir: Grapes are coming from two terroirs. One is made of limestone and the other is composed of clay and limestone. The first is in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, near Tautavel, where small yields accentuates the mineral concentration of the soil. The second one is close to the Thau basin and is marked by the maritime influence which gives a saline side to the terroir.

    • Wine-making: The wine-making process adopted is close to the one used for a white wine. To preserve its delicate pale color, grapes are pressed directly after the harvests. Only juices are kept. The fermentation from 16° to 18° extracts the different aromas and preserve the natural freshness.
