Our oenologists' opinion
Its dark purple color offers a beautiful nose that opens on candied yellow fruits, notes of cherries and bigarreaux. On the palate this wine has a beautiful balance, full-bodied with a nice character on candied fruits and toasted notes. Finish on ripe and dense tannins.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation
Domaine Gérard Bertrand
Well-known in the whole world, the domain Gérard Bertrand contributes to the prestige of the vineyard of South of France, the biggest one in the world. Surrounding the most beautiful terroir of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, the Gerard Bertrand wines are perfectly mixing tradition and innovation.
- Terroir: Bought by Gérard Bertrand in 1997, the vineyard of the Château Laville Bertrou is located in the designated area (AOC) of Minervois La Livinière. Peaking at 230 meters, vines are planted on a marl soil associated with limestone sandstone and compact limestone dating back to the Eocene epoch.
- Viticulture: The maison wants to preserve its territory. It adopted a sustainable, organic and biodynamic agriculture. Labels and certifications AB, Terra Vitis and Demeter reward its process respectful of the environment.
- Wine-making: Each grape variety is processed separately. The Carignan and the Syrah macerate during 15 days. The end of the alcoholic maceration is done at low temperature. The Grenache macerates 3 weeks. After the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, wines are assembled and put in barrels to age during 10 to 12 months.
