Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and crisp
Its light ruby color offers a nose with spicy notes. The wine is nervous and characterized by black cherry aromas. The tannins are melting.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
Harvests can be transferred through gravity or pumping systems. The gravity transfer helps preserve the grapes’ aromas and structures.
Domain and appellation
Domaine de Châtenoy
Managed by the Clément family since 15 generations, the Domaine de Châtenoy stands out through an ancestral savoir-faire.
- Terroir: The 60 hectares domain lays on clay-limestone soils with sauvignon and merlot as main grape varieties.
- Viticulture: With the “no good wine without good vines” motto, much care is given to the vines. They are between 30 to 50 years old in average with a planting density of 8000 plants per hectare. Harvests are hand-picked. The grapes are thoroughly sorted out and transferred in tanks through a gravity system.
- Vinification: The 15 to 20 days vatting with pigeage is followed by a fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine ages in oak barrels.
