Our oenologists' opinion

Greedy and spiced are the best words to describe this garnet-colored wine that has fuchsia highlights. It releases fragrances of candied black fruits spiced by an aniseed touch. In mouth, its fruity side is particularly perceptible during the attack that unveils ripe and round tannins. This sweet and enveloping wine features notes of black fruits and spices during its powerful finish.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine De La Genestiere

The domain of the Genestière has been founded in 1930 on the right bank of the Rhône. It extends on 40 hectares on the dry sloped of the Haut Tavel and the Hills of Lirac.

    • Terroir: The terroir is well sun-exposed and ruffled by the mistral wind. The soil is made of clay and limestone with rolled pebbles.
    • Viticulture: Harvests are done at the best time, plot by plot and bunch by bunch.
    • Wine-making: The Syrah variety is subjected to a cold pre-fermentation maceration. Traditional methods of wine-making are used controlling the temperature. The technic of the pigeage is used for the grape varieties Grenache and Mourvèdre. It consists in mixing the marc that is at the top of the tanks with the must located at the bottom of it. Grape varieties are then assembled and a part of the wine ages in French oak barrels for around a year. The other part ages in tanks.
