Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and well-rounded
This wine has a straw color, followed by a fresh nose with notes of almond and vanilla with a mineral edge. Taste wise it is balanced, distinctive and mineral and ends with a tense finale.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Style ? Dry wines are acidic, lively and fresh while sweet wines are soft and feel round in the mouth.
Do you know ?
The legend that the vineyard of Crozes Hermitage was founded in the thirteenth century by a knight, tired from the Crusades, sound nice, the truth is somewhat different. Indeed, the first traces of wine activity in this area date back to the Roman times!
Domain and appellation
Cave de Tain l'Hermitage
Founded in 1933 by Louis Gambert of Loche, the Cave de Tain benefits from the expertise of 300 winemakers spread over 1000 hectares of vineyards to produce wines with appellations such as Hermitage, Crozes Hermitage, Saint Joseph, Cornas and Saint Péray well as well as local wines.
- Terroir : The plots selected for this red Crozes-Hermitage are based on granite soils, and alluvium of outwashed soils. La Cave de Tain produced over 50% of this AOC.
- Viticulture: The yields of its lands are limited so as to ensure optimum ripeness of the grapes.
- Vinification : The grapes are gently pressed after a rigorous plot selection. They are then in a temperature-controlled fermentation before aging on lees.
- Marsanne : 100%
