Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

With its garnet color, this wine offers you a discreet nose, on the gratinated black fruits and the spices. On the palate, it presents a supple attack, on velvety and round tannins. Final with a good persistence

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Clos Des Demoiselles

After having belonged to the same family since 1820, the property was taken over by the Chanfreau family in 2002.

    • Terroir: Clos des Demoiselles ripens its 4 hectares of old Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon on the southern slope of Puy de Menjon, the highest point of the Medoc.

    • Viticulture: The vine is cultivated according to the principles of reasoned agriculture, grassed, treated with the greatest care and harvested by hand.

    • Vinification: The grapes of this small vineyard, set between the vineyards of Fonréaud and Lestage, planted mainly with Merlot, are vinified with passion highlight the finesse and balance of the wine. The wine is aged 14 months in oak barrels until bottling at the château. It reveals the wonderful character of its beautiful terroir: balance, charm and richness.
