Fruity and well-rounded

Its ruby color with dark garnet highlights offers a nice open nose on the violet. On the palate, this wine has a supple attack and a good balance with a nice character on black fruits. Nice stretch straight and vinous.



Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Cabernet Franc of Bordeaux is be called "Breton" in memory of Fr. Breton, steward of Cardinal Richelieu who started it in the region.

Domain and appellation

  • Famille Bougrier

    Since 1885 and six generation, the Famille Bougrier work on the recognition of the wines of la Vallée de la Loire. Nowadays, the family is well-known to be one of the last family houses occupying the whole territory of the Vallée de la Loire, from Nantes to Sancerre. This wine is a single grape variety: Cabernet Franc, or "Breton".

    • Terroir: The vines located in the Vallée de la Vienne are planted in sand and gravel soils. They make fruity and light wines. Composed of clay and limestone, they create profound wines, fit for aging.
    • Wine-making: The wine is kept under pomace for 10 to 20 days. In tank or in barrel, the wine goes through the malolactic fermentation stage. This chemical transformation is reducing the acidity.
