Well-rounded

This garnet-colored wine releases elegant fragrances of blackcurrant and cocoa. The mouth opens on a supple and fruity substance, with a nice structure and no flaws. It astounds by its control. With a real aromatic power, the tasting is ending on a smooth matter, a persistent and full-bodied taste and a great balance.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

    Bought in 1995 by three wine lovers, the vineyard of the Château Mayne Mazerolles is extending on 15 hectares close to the city of Blaye and its Citadelle, fortress of Vauban classed a Unesco World Heritage.

     

    • Terroir: Locally nicknames “Les gruppes”, the vineyard is located on clay and limestone plateau, south-orientated.
       
    • Viticulture: The domain is in transition towards the organic agriculture. To not create any vegetal waste, harvests are done mechanically. The machine sorts and destems the grapes.
       
    • Wine-making: The wine macerates with natural yeasts in thermo-regulated tanks. The aging is done on dregs.
