Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and well-rounded
Deep garnet colour. Open nose of black fruits, toasted, roasted and then liquorice. Good balance, full-bodied, vinous, fleshy, still quite raw tannins, warm point. Good length but young and still a little austere.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation
Château Haut-Bages Libéral
A property of the Libéral family from early in the 18th century, this classified 5th Grand Cru from Pauillac was acquired by the Cruse family in 1960.
- Terroir: The 30-hectare vineyard is located around the property and adjacent to Château Latour as well as on the Bages plateau, south of Pauillac. The property’s plots are situated on 2 soil types: one consisting of deep gravel and other clay-limestone.
- Viticulture: Harvesting is done manually. The vines are less than 15 years old.
- Vinification: Tradition bordelaise vinification in thermo regulated concrete and stainless steel tanks for 18 to 24 days. The wine is then aged in oak barrels (40% new) for 16 months.
