Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Château Gruaud Larose

    Splendid area of the nineteenth century acquired in 1997 by the family Merlaut, Château Gruaud Larose is located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle in the heart of the AOC Saint-Julien. It is ranked second in the Grand Cru classification of 1855.
     
    • Terroir: This area of 82 hectares has a unique terroir, located on a typical Médoc soil composed of gravel and pebbles and clay cement. A real asset for the development of the noble grape, Cabernet Sauvignon.

     

    • Viticulture: Harvesting is done manually. This wine has an ancestral know-how of organic farming practices to preserve and strengthen the soil.

     

    • Vinification: Vinification begins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and ends with a barrel aging 18 to 24 months, including 40% in new oak.
