Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

This wine has a carmine color with mahogany highlights. Notes of pomegranate and redcurrant are perceptible at nose. In mouth, it is surely fresh and frank. A vanilla aroma softens the whole. The finish is tasteful and acidulous thanks to a particular flavor of red fruits, bringing a good balance to this wine.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The Cuvée Raphaël is the finest of Château de Parenchère and honors Raphaël Gazaniol, the domain’s renovator.

Domain and appellation

  • Château De Parenchere

The Château de Parenchère that dates back to 1570 is located in the region of Sainte-Foy-La Grande. It is well-known all around the world. Indeed, it is recommended by several guides, contests and international magazines. The domain produces a complete range of red, white and rosé wines through a sustainable agriculture. Yields are also controlled.

    • Terroir: The property extends on 188 hectares. 69 of them constitutes the vineyard. Plots has been carefully chosen to be the most exposed of the domain. They are located on hills. This position helps rainwater to flow naturally without degrading the quality of the grapes. The vineyard lays on a clay-limestone soil with a dominance of clay.

    • Viticulture: The vines are 25 years old in average.

    • Wine-making: The plot-by-plot winemaking process allows the wine to express the terroir’s diversity. A one day cold maceration is followed by a fermentation in stainless steel tank. This fermentation is done at 13°C. This method transforms sugar almost entirely. The bottling is made in the month following the fermentation with a fairly high natural carbon dioxide content. It gives more freshness to the wine.
