Powerful bouquet

Its brick color offers a nose with hints of burnt caramel, toasty and animal notes. On the palate, this wine has a good balance, frank, quite vinous, a heady tip and ripe tannins.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Member of the Union of Grands Crus of Bordeaux since 1983, the Château de Lamarque can be considered, within this prestigious and demanding "club", as assimilated to its renowned confreres, Grands Crus Classés. (Few non-Grands Crus Classés are part of the Union).

Domain and appellation

  • Château De Lamarque

    The Château de Lamarque is one of the oldest castles of the Medoc, since it was built 1000 years ago! The story of the family began at the same time with Garsion de Lamarque.
     
     

    • Terroir: The 38-hectare estate is located 5km north of Margaux and 4km south of Saint-Julien, adjacent to Moulis-en-Médoc. 
       
    • Viticulture: Tillage and fertilization: Cousinié method: "More nutritional balance of the vines for less treatments". Harvest at maturity, manual for Merlots, Petit Verdots, Cabernet Francs and mechanical for young Merlots (plants) and Cabernet Sauvignon.
       
    •  Wine-making: Traditional Bordeaux, in stainless steel and cement tanks, equipped with thermoregulation; each batch of grape and plot is vinified separately. The entire production is put in French oak barrels (Allier) for its aging of 20 months including 3 to 4 rackings and a collage. No filtration is carried out during bottling at the castle (only a light sieving).
