Our oenologists' opinion
Its dark garnet color introduces a fresh nose of red fruits, cassis, and menthol. The palate offers a good balance. The wine is straight, fine, round, and distinct with coated and velvety tannins. The finish lasts and stretches.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
Château Talbot has become a must of the Bordeaux winery tours with its entirely renovated domain and forerunner vat room. From the inside, the Château masterpiece is art. A sur mesure moulted vine plants forest overlooks a 1000 barrels and reflects on the aluminium walls to give a majestuous feeling.
Domain and appellation
4ème Grand Cru Classé in 1855, Château Talbot belongs to the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation. It spreads north of the estate across 197 hectares that run up to the Pauillac appellation with cabernet sauvignon as the main grape variety.
- Terroir: The graves soil helps the cabernet sauvignon thrive thanks to its draining and warming functions.
- Viticulture: The harvests are hand-picked and thoroughly sorted out through selective cuts to ensure a perfect maturity of the grapes.
- Vinification: From the vat room to cellar, the winemaking process is handled plot-by-plot. Depending on the grape variety, the fermentation occurs in oak or stainless steel tank. The ageing process lasts 14 months in oak barrels. The blends are unique to each vintage and highly controlled by the master-cellar in order to reach a perfect complexity.
