Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

This limpid garnet-colored wine gives off a fragrance of cherries and undergrowth. The attack is fruity. At tasting, this wine demonstrates its freshness, while being at the same time very tasteful. The finale is enjoyable and satiny, leaving a taste of black pepper in mouth.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

Coulanges-la-Vineuse and the other towns sharing its fate (Charentenay, Escolives-Sainte-Camille, Jussy, Migé, Mouffy et Val-de-Mercy) have received in 1993 the right to identify their wines using the "Bourgogne Coulanges-la-Vineuse" designation.

Domain and appellation

  • Bourgogne Coulanges La Vineuse

The domain is located in the south of Auxerre, near the Chablis vineyard.

    • Terroir: The vineyard is part of the south-east section of the Paris basin.
    •  Viticulture: The vines are cultivated for purposes of quality and respect of the environment. For this sake, many techniques are used, such as rainwater recovery for treatments, soil working and partial grassing. The reasoned protection against diseases and pests and the limited amendments are also applying.
