Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Deep amber colour, brilliant, powerful and open nose of beeswax, notes of dried apricots, cooked prunes, hints of candied ginger, then peach jam, cocoa. Beautiful balance, good concentration, beautiful envelope, more on the over-ripe than on the noble rot, full, rich, nice character well signed. A frank, straightforward, tense finish, on a wine that is almost closer to a fruit juice than to a wine!

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

The german attribute “gewurtz” means “spicy” and helps here to qualify the name of an old Alsace grape variety, the pink traminer.

Domain and appellation

  • Véronique & Thomas Muré

Located in Westhalted since 1650, the family Muré cultivates vine. Nowadays, it is represented by the 11th and 12th generation. In 1935, Alfred Muré, the grand-father of René, bought the Clos St Landelin. It is a vineyard of 12 hectares that has made the reputation of the domain. Since, it has always belonged to the family. The other vines of the domain are located on the neighboring terroirs of Vorbourg, Zinnkoepflé and the Coast of Rouffach.

    • Viticulture: The average age of the vines used for this wine is 64 years. The domain of Clos Saint Landelin is entirely organic. Harvests are done manually.
    • Wine-making: Methods used are non-interventionists. White wines macerate slowly inside of thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks on dregs.
