CLOS DU MARQUIS

Long considered the second wine of Léoville Las Cases, Clos du Marquis is now a Cru in its own right, and one of the greatest wines of the highly reputed Saint-Julien appellation on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region. The historic vineyard of the Delon estates, Clos du Marquis became a brand in 1902, the date that marked the birth of its first vintage. The owners wanted to distinguish the terroir of Léoville Las Cases and Clos du Marquis, which are both 500 metres apart. The location of the vineyard close to the Gironde river favours the ripening of the grapes thanks to the river's regulating role, while the soils of organic matter confer a particular typicity that makes Clos du Marquis so original.
